Steve's Eagle Scout Mary Garden Project
Jun 5 2003 - Steve Eizensmits, Marion, OH These are pictures of my Eagle Scout project which was dedicated May 15th. Article about the project: The Courtyard at Marion Catholic High School is alive this spring with flowers and trees to honor Mary Our Blessed Virgin Mother. The Mary Garden was planted last spring as the Eagle Scout project of Steve Eizensmits, Troop 50, a present Senior at Marion Catholic. The Mary Garden was dedicated on May 15th after an all school Mass and May Crowning. Father Rod Damico presided over the Mass and ceremony. Crowning Mary was Senior Aimee Allen, while Sophomores Ashley Vance and Jessica Carbetta sang the Ave Maria. Also in attendance were family members representing the three memorials at the site. - Mary Rita McGlew and Karen Ferrell, sister and daughter of the late Dr. & Mrs. Dan Murphy; Paul Meister, spouse of the late Sue Meister; and Mr. & Mrs. Jeff Baldauf, son of the late John Baldauf. Jeff Baldauf explained how the statue of Mary and the surrounding sidewalk were installed and donated in honor of his father John, who started the St. Mary Marion chapter of St. Vincent De Paul and strongly supported MarionŐs Catholic Schools and Right to Life. Paul Meister, a former Athletic Director at Marion Catholic was present to remember his wife through her memorial which was planted by the Class of ? . Meister added, "I'm always glad to come back to Marion Catholic". Mary Rita McGlew and Karen Ferrell were pleasantly surprised and honored by the memorial to Dr. & Mrs, Dan Murphy who were strong supporters of MarionŐs Catholic Schools and Respect Life. The landscaping completed last year by Steve Eizensmits was possible through donations by St. Mary Parishioners and Marion Catholic Student Council (marble benches).
