St. Joseph's Church, Woods Hole, Angelus Tower

Jul 19 2002, Julian Colina I send a photo for the www. It is at Woods Hole, Ma. Es incleible la replica medieval europea, Spain etc. Jul 19 2002, John Stokes Thank you for the excellent photo of the Woods Hole bell tower. We are posting it to our CHAT section, supplementing the tower views in the website Tour of the Garden of Our Lady beside the tower. In 1954 I personally climbed the inside ladder of the tower up to the bells (chimes) to take a photo looking down on the garden. Before I climed up, Wallace K. Butler, "Keeper of the Bells" from the time they were installed in 1929, informed me I would discover from the engravings on the chimes that the smaller one, which rings first, is named "Mendel", with the inscription, "I will teach you of life, and of life eternal", and the larger, "Pasteur", with the Inscription, "Thanks be to God" - contrary to the information on the bronze plaque to the left of the tower door, which has the names reversed. I attach a photo of the Garden of Our Lady taken early this past spring. Daffodils ("Mary's Star", "Mary Looking Down from Heaven"), not on the original planting plan, have been addded, together with other early blooming Flowers, for spring color. Frances Crane Lillie, planter of the Garden in 1932, included no spring blooming bulbs as she was only a summer resident of Woods Hole.
